Oceanside is a quaint city with six digit population planted in the northern part of San Diego County. It is home to the longest wooden pier on the west coast. The California Surf Museum is also located in downtown Oceanside if your looking to kill some time while visiting the area. If you happen to be visiting in May Oceanside Harbor Beach hosts the world’s 2nd largest Beach Soccer festival, The Southern California Beach Soccer Championships has become an international event.

Enough about adventures while in Oceanside when we have some American muscle to pedal through the city. While your not going to find an ideal city MPG at 16 miles per gallon. Funny how when driving the car it doesn’t really seem to be a concern as you dominate the local beach scenery. The clutch on the manual transmission isn’t aggressive ¬†enough that you will be annoyed in traffic putting the clutch pedal in and out.

The small narrow streets feel even smaller with the big body presence of the Camaro but we couldn’t find anywhere that the car just didn’t fit. Never did we cause a traffic jam of epic proportions or have locals throwing street vendor food at us for blocking roadways due to the wide stance of the car that make it look oh so good. In fact, most people just wanted to stop and talk to us about the car and how glad they were General Motors brought the classic car back into action.

With the interior the seats sit just a little too low making it inconvenient to rest your arm on the door sill. The gauges are laid out nicely which you can reference when cruising down the road. Seats are very comfortable and the shifter just seems to be placed in the perfect location for hours of going through the gears. Some other gauges sit just in front of the shifter with volts, transmission temp, oil temp, and oil pressure. Lastly the radio functions are fantastic including the iPod hookup which made the drive much more entertaining.

So yesterday you saw our route we rolled the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS around Southern California. In case you missed it “2010 Camaro SS – Sunday Drive [PREVIEW]” highlights our route we took in the new modern muscle car. Chevrolet answered everyone’s prayers by bringing back the muscle car so many people grew up to love with the Chevy emblem.

The San Onofre State Beach is a great remote place wedged north of Oceanside and south of San Clemente. It’s full of people in old VW vans and surfers with a romantic date vibe. Sadly for you “free” people of California the nude beach part of the park has been closed down as of mid 2008. So the place has become a little more family safe. If your driving on Highway 5 with your loved on or on vacation this is a great place to stop and really appreciate the California sunset if you have a chance.

Weaving around San Diego and cruising on Highway 5 the 2010 Camaro SS really comes into it’s own. While I don’t picture this thing as a beach cruiser off the bat it really fit into it’s own. While no 50’s style drag race broke out with any greasers and flagger girls in San Diego I really felt the car fit the atmosphere. When we stopped to take these photos I couldn’t tell you how many people stopped to inquire about the car.

A car comfortable enough your grandfather could take it on a road trip without complaining about his back but aggressive enough when you lay in the throttle to make a sub five second o-60mph. Our 6.2-liter LS3 V8 was matted to a 6 speed transmission which makes 422hp. If your looking for a refined muscle car that can handle some traffic but with a blip of the throttle throw your head back into the seat then this is your vehicle. Stay tuned as we keep you updated on our journey with the 2010 Camaro SS!

2010 Chevrolet Camaro – Sunday Drive [PREVIEW]

2010 Chevrolet Camaro Sunday Drive

2010 Chevrolet Camaro Sunday Drive

Here is a map of how we took out our 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS which was a perfect Sunday drive. We made a few stops that we will review and overall just loved the Chevrolet Camaro SS on this drive. While it didn’t feature the distance our average drive does it didn’t take away from the experience of our adventure. The American Sunday drive is something grandiose and often under appreciated but coming up is a guide on how to take one in an American muscle car.
